Just a few reminders.
COACHING FORUM. The response to this is slow in coming, yet there is a great deal to be gained. I understand that some attachments did not show up the venue and date. Yes I know it is another weekend, but it is only an afternoon, it should be enjoyable and everybody should gain from it. It is free, paid for by the County fund, and if you want to bring your wife, husband, girlfriend, partner, please feel free. Saturday 2nd October in Summercourt village Memorial hall from 2pm to 5.30pm. There are some interesting speakers. Just let me know if you are coming.
ENDURANCE DAY Sunday 3rd October at Truro cricket club. Viv Mathews is organising this one and if it is anything like last years, it will be very good. Don’t delay in contacting him.
STRENGTH TRAINING WORKSHOP 21st November at Truro Gym on a Sunday afternoon. This is worth 2 credits on a licence renewal while at the same time being very informative and giving you a chance to understand and try some of the exercises needed to improve an athlete’s strength. Afterall, strength is needed for power, and power produces speed, which is what all athletic disciplines require. It costs £20 and applications are available from Jacky Brett or myself.
If you are coaching children, these qualifications are a ‘must,’ and will give you credit points on your licence renewal. Jacky Brett has the application forms. GIVE HER A RING ON 01872 324392 OR 07966 892283

MENTORING 27th October St Austell
This initiative to raise a county squad of Grade 1 & 2 athletes to meet several times during the winter will kick off on Saturday 16th October meeting, at the Crantock Bay Hotel, West Pentire at 10am, to be followed by a training session that will inevitably include some beach work, but with different event coaches. The names of the invited athletes will be finalised when all of the county rankings are completed, but in the meantime, please be aware that this will take place and warn any of your athletes that you know have qualified. Naturally coaches are invited to attend as well. Nobody is trying to poach athletes, the intention is to generate some interest in a commitment to look at the 2012 Olympics more seriously.
There is a specific coaching day at Bristol, if anybody wants to go, on September 26th But you must ring Martin Rush first on 01225 323559 or 07803 671969
These are organised by Martin Rush for athletes and coaches that are within 3% of the World Potential criteria. They will have been notified individually.
