Ref – U/A levy fees due to County. PS still chasing it up.

REVIEW OF EVENTS.

Duchy Marathon & 20mile. (M-173, 20M 225 entries in 2008, M-216, 20M 263 entries in 2007) Above normal figures in 2007 due to the cancellation of the Grizzly. DA reported everything went fine and there was good feedback from the addition of the Pasta Party. HC advised that the “relieving” marshals had no bibs.DA  advised event covered by a TV company, CAC still awaiting details of when it will be shown.

An Resek Hellys. (477 entries in 2008,451-2007)  KH reported that the finish was shambolic, with runners being sent the wrong way in the closing stages. Ian Munday/Rotary Club would not be organising the race again, so unless new organisers came forward the race would cease. CH had advised everyone 24 hours after the event that she would no longer be involved with the race in its present form in the future, but was still willing to help and advise anyone wishing to take it on. Thoughts as to who might take it on..Carn or Hayle – too soon after Blaythorne & MB10K, M.B.H.- full program of Aquathons to organise. BC to speak to Tri Logic to see if they would be interested. All clubs to discuss and consider.

5 Tors. (120 entries 2008) Organised this year for the first time by E.C.H. Numbers well down, probably because it was held on Easter Sunday and attrocious weather conditions. Facilities/infrastructure extremely limited, couldn’t even make JAS a cup of tea. Race itself went well.

Whitemoor 10k (93 entries 2008) Good race, well organised. Scenic course.

Cubert 5 (599 entries 2008, 532-2007) GD reported the race went really well, and he had received a lot of positive feedback. Good weather as usual. The new finish area in the field worked well. Huge turn out, but everyone across the start line in less than 35 seconds. The nominated “pacemakers” proved successful. Good support for the new “under 20’s” category. IR advised that there had been a build up of runners crossing the finishing line at one stage. This was due to back up number takers being too slow, and they had been immediately stood down to eliminate that problem. DA advised that the gun went off to early, and was delighted with the awards on offer to the U20’s. Two ECH had “swapped “ their number without notifying the organisers. The individual involved was disqualified from the race and ECH via HC warned as to their future conduct. DH reported that his club, Moorhaven, had fielded a complete mens team for the first time in 10 years.

Sticker 5 (442 entries 2008, 389-2007) PB reported the weather was again unkind. Record entry field and was delighted with the support. The under 20 category was very successful with 18 men and 7 or 8 ladies competing. DR thanked for taking the entries. RC said it was a good event. Query whether or not there was sufficient toilets.

TREASURERS REPORT.  JAS reported a current balance of £3423-94.

GP MATTERS.

Ref 1st Claim members. A general discussion took place regarding the rules following the change over to EA. Whichever discipline a club registered for, would determine which club a runner could compete for in team competition.

Ref Race Entry forms. As from Jan 1st 2008, information requesting competitors licence number must be included.

Ref GP points allocation. DA advised that with the increasing numbers taking part, the maximum 200 points available should be increased to 300 to ensure that everyone receives their correct points rather than just the minimum 1 point as was often the case now. Proposed by PS Seconded by CB

Ref Most Improved Runners of the Year Awards. Each club to submit, by no later than w/e Oct 19th where applicable, their most improved male and female runner together with details of their performances year on year. Previously decided by DA & PB, but because both are now STARC members, to ensure impartiality, Mike Kestle  (N.R.R) to be invited to join PB, AR & CB to decide the winners. (Can all be done by e.mail)

Ref Turkey Trot. DA advised that there would be no fun run this year.

Ref Mag 7. CB advised everything in hand. 350 limit this year.

Ref I.Q.Half. KB advised it would now be a MT race, because of new 4 mile track and half mile grassy track. He would organise training runs on the course for any interested clubs or individuals.

Ref Treggy 7.JM advised 300 limit this year. Fun run added as well.

Ref Probus 10k RC advised this was taking place Sunday Sept 14th 10-30am

LICENCE SECRETARY. IR reported that there was a lot for him to learn, but everything was progressing satisfactorily.

AOB.

RH & DH attended SW Regional meeting 3rd May, and advised that some authorities were charging or would charge for road closures. Discussion has how to benefit/take advantage of 2012 Olympic Events taking place in Dorset. Next meeting 02/08/08

PB suggested that with the increase in female runners in the GP (currently 380 men, 320 ladies have completed at least one event this year), should we be considering increasing the numbers to count in the women’s team competition from 4 to 6. ALL CLUBS TO DISCUSS.

PB queried the rules concerning the receipt of “unofficial drinks” during races, particularly the long distance races. (UKA rule 206). Many runners were contravening this rule. All clubs to advise, via their websites, that their members could be disqualified if the rules were adhered to and a protest from another competitor was made. NRR to action via the Webmasters Link.

IR requested that all Race Organisers submit the correct documents to him when requesting a Licence.

CB claimed that the meetings were taking to long, and thought should be given to revamping the AOB section, which was the main cause of the problem.

DA asked if the details of the team competition in GP races could be included amongst the results available on the website. NRR had already started doing this, but everyone should be aware that from the GP point of view, the results might differ slightly in some instances.

BC asked if there would be any problems with a slight change in their club colours. None noted.

GD He had received a request from Julie Walker (NRR finish line recorder) re possibility of purchasing a “Watch printer” and also the use of “chips “ in our events. (Truro Half are considering using them). Also more volunteers required to assist with “finish line duties” Note to this effect to go on all websites.

There being no other business to discuss, the meeting closed at 10-15pm.

DATE OF NEXT MEETING, WHICH WILL INCORPORATE THE AGM, MONDAY SEPTEMBER 22ND 7PM
