requesting the inclusion of the Probus 10k in 2009 probably sometime in May,

be considered for inclusion in 2009.

the day in recent years.
Review of
Events.
Summer Turkey
Trot. (403
entries 2007, 362-2006) For second year
running, water board vehicle driven down the finishing straight. Couple of
runners failed to go to the end of the finishers funnel, and therefore missing
from results.
Mag 7. (350 entries
2007, 350 – 2006). CB reported he
was happy with how it went, apart from the terrible weather conditions.
Indian Queens
Half.
(346 entries 2007, 336-2006). KB
reported weather hot again. One drinks station inadvertently placed in the
wrong place. Problem with a group of horses and riders on the course following
accident when rider thrown from horse (not due to the presence of runners).
Query over print out of vets prizes. Probably a new course for 2008.
Treggy 7. (288 entries
2007, 269-2006). SH reported that MH was happy with how it went. Location
of finish area could be better, some runners failed to collect their T.Shirt,
which, like the goody bag, was excellent.
Truro Half. (662 entries
2007, 698-2006). Really well organised event. Very tough course. LD enjoyed it but SH recorded her first ever DNF. Query as to why there was a “split”
presentation of prizes which was not popular. Drink station at 9 miles, and
then nothing to the finish. David George ( timekeeper ) advised that too many
non runners were accompanying official runners towards the finishing line which
caused problems. He suggested a marshal be on duty to “remove” offenders. Also
more barriers required to segregate the finishers from spectators. Several
“bollards” in and around the city centre could cause problems with runners.
Problem at one of car parks where charges on the day were misleading. Parking
details to be included on next years entry form/facts sheet. Very limited
refreshments made available to registration /results staff who were on duty in
excess of 8 hours. Several runners collected their race number, and then their
goody bag, but with no intention of running. No problem with that, but details
of those doing so must be obtained, so as to determine the official and correct
number of starters.
Tywardreath
Trotter.
(170 entries 2007, 130-2006). Very wet conditions which resulted in the course
becoming dangerous in places. Several fallers with two requiring hospital
treatment. New finish outside the pub was much better.
St Levan 10k. (190 entries
2007, 175-2006).PS reported that
excellent “finish line” personnel resulted in presentation within 10 minutes of
last finisher.
Probus 10k. (88 entries
2007, 113-2006). RC reported numbers
down on previous year, race clashed with Grizzly and Lanhydrock 10k. Also
sandwiched between Treggy 7 and Truro Half. New date next year, possibly in
May.
Social Event
Questionnaire. DA had received mixed response from
questionnaire/suggestions circulated to clubs. A new questionnaire will be made
available to all runners at the Mob Match for their opinions with a view as to
what action to take for 2008.
South West Inter Counties
Championships. Incorporated within the
Wimborne 10 mile.
Sunday
Nov 18th. PS
to request nominations from all clubs.
Teams comprise of 6 men, 4 ladies. CRR&RG will pay entry fees and out of
pocket expenses. GD to ask J.Knowles
(Treasurer C.A.A.A.) as to possibility of funding from the County re transport
costs.
A.O.B.
CB asked if Cornwall would be interested again in a Devon v Cornwall challenge incorporated within the Hoe 10mile Feb 2008. Agreed we enter teams.
CB asked if Cornwall possess a Race Clock. We do not, but Mark Trebilcock(T.R.C.) does have one. RC to enquire if he is considering selling it.
KB advised that Peter Ferlie – Ironbridge Runner is investigating the possibility of purchasing timing chips.
PS Reported that there had been a problem regarding club runners not wearing their club vests in GP races, namely D.Rowe- T.R.C. in the Treggy 7. and Shaun Tozer- C.A.C. and Nick Martin- Mile High in the Truro Half. Both DR and ST were disqualified from the team results, (NM was the only Mile High runner running ), but all three have been allowed to keep their GP points for those races.
AGENDA ITEM FOR NEXT MEETING. Re new rule for compulsory wearing of club vests.
There being no further business, the meeting closed at 8-55pm
DATE OF NEXT
MEETING. MONDAY DECEMBER 17th 2007
